How it works

Record, seal, and schedule

Capture up to two minutes, wrap it in a Cover, and pick the exact moment it opens. Until then it waits, sealed, in their Corral. In a world of instant everything, WakieUp makes the wait fun again.
  • Record
Up to two minutes. Your face, your voice, the whole feeling.
  • Cover
Wrap it in an animated Cover that fits the moment.
  • Schedule
Pick the exact moment it opens, in their time zone. Then let the anticipation build.

What's inside

The pieces that make a Wakie more than a video.

The Corral

Every Wakie you receive waits in your Corral until it can be opened.

When a Wakie arrives, it lands in your Corral as a sealed Cover. You can see it is there. You cannot peek. The wait is the fun.

Sender hidden until it opens.

Covers WakieUp+

Wrap it in an animated Cover that fits the moment.

Playful, seasonal, or heartfelt. There are more Covers than you could send in a year, and new ones arrive over the air.

Every Cover, including the seasonal collections, is WakieUp+.

Live filters WakieUp+

Viking. Hipster Sloth. Glitter.

Live camera filters, burned right into your recording while you film. They are live now, and there are a lot more where those came from.

Filters are a WakieUp+ perk.

The WakieUp Train

Everyone adds their message to yours.

Start a Train and friends and family each climb aboard with a Wakie of their own. WakieUp splices every one into a single stream, and the recipient rides the whole thing in one go.

Each WakieUp+ rider can attach a gift.

Gifts WakieUp+

Attach a real gift, revealed at open.

A gift card, a prepaid card, a link, or a promise. It stays sealed with the Wakie and appears the moment they open it. No service fee: the whole gift is theirs.

Gift sending is a WakieUp+ perk.

Time Capsules

Send it twenty years ahead.

A Wakie can travel up to two years. A Time Capsule goes further: a message to your future self, or to theirs, filled with whatever matters now and sealed until graduations, weddings, and milestones that do not have names yet.

Time Capsules are $9.99 each.

Receiving

The other half is the arrival.

A clay grandmother laughing with happy tears while a phone shows a young man watching live

Watch the reaction, live.

When they open your Wakie, you can be there for it. Their face, the moment it lands, streamed to you.

Three glowing Wakie tiles flying home to a clay phone

Ask for one.

Hoping to be remembered? One tap sends a Wakie Request to your people, and the replies stack up in your Corral.

Two clay phones held toward each other, one showing a QR code

Connect in a scan.

Scan a QR code or send an invitation. Both people say yes before a single Wakie can travel.

Trusted and verified

You'll never hear from a stranger.

WakieUp is the only app where you have no idea who's sending you a message, but you know it won't be a stranger. Connections are mutual and verified through a text-only challenge chat before anyone can send you a thing, and parents control exactly who can connect with their children.

Child safety

Built to protect children

Verified connections and guardian approvals keep strangers out. Behind that, WakieUp takes the strongest possible stance on child safety.

Active scanning
We scan for child sexual abuse material automatically, around the clock.
Immediate reporting
Confirmed material is reported to NCMEC the moment it is detected.
Evidence preserved
We preserve what investigators need to act, in line with the law.
Zero tolerance
No warnings, no second chances. Offending accounts are removed.

Private by default

Every Wakie is private between you and the people you send it to. If a recipient wants to share theirs, that choice is always, only, theirs.

So… who could you send a Wakie to, today?

Free for everyone.
